These are beautiful cards and I am very pleased with the deck. I have been using the tarot for many years and this is my lenormand deck. One of the reviews stated that the descriptions of the cards are written very lightly on the cards, which is true. However, the words are way too light for me read, even with with my glasses on. So If you are looking for a deck with the descriptions written on them, you might want to select a different deck.There are duplicate cards for the child, gentleman, and lady, expressing racial diversity, which I really like. I have scanned and uploaded images of them.
the Under the Roses Lenormand cards are very nice they are very small and you can you it inside your pockets very easily.the cards it self if you look at one card you are able to see key words of what one card means, so for example the card "the sickle" number 10 on the bottom left hand side of the card you can faintly see the word "break" this key work really helps when you are trying to do a reading and you are new.The little small booklet it comes with, is also very nice because of all the words that you can barley see on the cards are inside of this booklet for example in the booklet if you turn to the sickle card number 10 page 12. it has other meanings but also had the word that we were barley able to see on the left hand side of the card was also in it. so that means the booklet is just revealing all the hidden words that are on the cardsI have got this in a very nice packaging with bubble wrap all around iti would recomend these cards for a person who is new with lerormand cards
There are other more descriptive and informative reviews, but I just wanted to to share that this is the only Lenormande style deck that has ever worked for me. I have read tarot privately for over 20 years and professionally for 10 and would occasionally look at the Lenormande and Oracle cards-- and had 0 connection with them. Maybe offering the beautiful signifier cards in a multicultural way opened a door for me, or made me more open to these cards, but suddenly I found myself being able to read and understand what the Lenormande was saying-- and I did accuracy tests to confirm. I am stunned and delighted to have a new way to divine. And I know that for some of the people I work with being able to see a signifier that looks like them (in such a lovely Victorian classic style) will really appeal to them and help them engage with cards to work with them, and helping the querent feel connected to spirit and empowered...well that's the point, isn't it?
I really like the artwork in this deck. It's clean and clear and therefore easily interpreted. The Dog and Mice cards stand out in this regard, as they're so much cuter than the standard versions. Some of the card names have been changed, though. Birds is now Owls and Coffin is now The Grave. The changed names don't change the meanings, though. This does have playing card inserts, but they're tiny and located in the lower right corner of each card so they're unobtrusive. The cardstock is the heavy and durable stock I expect from US Games. These cards shuffle well and will probably hold up through repeated use and abuse.The instructions leave a lot to be desired, though. The Moon card is a good example. They used the traditional Tarot meanings of fear, deception, confusion, revelation, and uncertainty. In Lenormand, the Moon carries a very different meaning and often means creativity, fame, attraction, attention, and praise. RADICALLY DIFFERENT. Most of the other meanings are close or the same as the traditional ones, but this one stood out and made me cringe.So if you're studying Lenormand, this would be a good starter deck for the images. Toss the instructions and go with Caitlin Matthews or Marcus Katz instead.
This has become my favorite deck. I use it almost every day. Am so glad I found out about it and so grateful to have it. I love the artwork! Love every card (well, except for the Owls, #12). I don't use the little white book that came with it...it just has some key words for each card and sometimes a sentence or two. It' not really useful for me. If you need a book that really tells about each card, I'd get a book on Lenormand cards, like The Essential Lenormand by Rana George.
Under the Roses is my first Lenormand deck. The images on the cards are gorgeous. That's what drew me to the cards in the first place, the images. I'm totally new to Lenormand, so I'm not knowledgeable about the cards. I read a review that said these cards deviate from a traditional Lenormand deck. Keep that in mind if you've used other traditional Lenormand decks.The cards are sturdy, well-made and easy to shuffle. The smaller size is a nice change from larger tarot and oracle cards. You will really like these if you have small hands. There are also two versions of the child, the lady and the gentleman - which I think is a nice touch. You choose the version of the card that best suits the situation or the person for which you're reading. In all, this is a nice deck of cards.
I love the feel/card stock of these and how well they shuffle. I have quite a few decks and this is one of my new favorites for sure. It reads great.
I ordered this because I thought that I would be able to see the key words written on the cards as advertised, they are there but you would need bionic sight to see them. I even asked my teens if they could read the print and they could only faintly make out one or two and that was with twisting the cards in all kinds of directions to catch the light a certain way. On the plus side I like the extra Lady and Gent and child cards.
